BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Introduction: 2009 marks the third annual Military and Aerospace Electronics Conference and Exhibition. Held against a background of increasing crossover between the demands for development of electronics within both land-based and aerospace systems, it was well received by the audience who attended the inaugural conference in 2006. The 2007 event was supported by Ultra Electronics, The Vetronics Research Centre, Sussex University and leading industry associations SAE UK and MIRA.

The comprehensive and compact conference format gives delegates a high volume of quality information in a short period. The conference seeks to progress in-depth discussion, whilst also examining the latest technological innovations and the opportunities these open up for the future. Once again it will present leading research and practical analysis of the issues faced by technical directors, electronics engineers and designers as they predict and fulfil the needs of their customers. There will be two seminar tracks running concurrently during the event, covering Military, Aerospace, Land Systems, and the future of both from a hardware and software perspective. In addition to the main conference programme there will be a number of practical workshop sessions where delegates will have the opportunity to test products and equipment provided by a number of manufacturers.

All submitted papers will be judged by an independent panel of leading industry experts.

Papers can cover a broad range of subjects based on the following two strategic themes; Theme One: Military/Defence; Theme Two: Aerospace

  • Avionics
  • COTS Systems
  • Data Storage
  • Embedded Systems
  • Networks
  • Obsolescence
  • Real-Time Operating Systems
  • Ruggedized Technologies
  • Security
  • Software Development Tools
  • Standards/Certification
  • Test & Measurement
  • Vehicle Electronics (vetronics)
  • Wireless Communications

Papers should take into account that all the above can have implications on Through Life Support (TLS), Survivability and affordability.

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACTS

Where applicable, presentations should address:

  • Issues that affect a particular aspect of military and/or aerospace electronics and their application
  • Case Studies especially lessons learned AND not learned
  • Solutions both proven and potential, to the issues faced in any area where electronics systems are utilised within land-based and/or aerospace applications

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Program Committee will review all presentations - selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Topic & relevance to the conference theme and delegate base
  • Focus on future trends and lessons learned (what worked AND what didn't) and recommended solutions to common issues
  • Speaker's technical knowledge and ability to engage and debate with delegates
  • Presentation experience of speaker
